A man kneels at the bank, fingers trembling as he lets the letter go. A love unsaid, a sorrow unburied, a choice too late. The ink bleeds into the current, but the words remain. The river carries them backward.
In the village, his wife wakes with ink-stained fingers. The taste of his name lingers on her tongue, and she remembers—not what was, but what could still be.
The river does not forget.
